■ Ni plating on EPDM rubber

( EMI shield plating technology for weather resistant rubber )
Ni-B plating on EPDM O-rings EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Rubber) is a rubber material with excellentweather resistance and
ozone resistance, and is also used outdoors. It has excellent water resistance and is also used for
packing around water. Since EPDM rubber has excellent weather resistance and water resistance, a
rubber plating material with Ni plating on EPDM is effective as a rubber packing part that requires an
electromagnetic wave shield such as a shield box. This Ni-plated EPDM rubber has a low electrical
resistance of 0.8Ω / sq and good adhesion of the Ni-plated film. In addition, the electromagnetic
wave shielding performance (EMI shielding performance) is extremely good at 60 dB or more (from
10 MHz to 1 GHz). It has been pointed out that EPDM rubber softens and deteriorates when it comes
into contact with chlorine-based materials such as chlorine water, but by applying Ni plating,
deterioration of chlorine-resistant systems can be greatly suppressed.
